Heads up: This post is 12 years old. My thinking may have evolved since then — read it with that in mind.

This week’s 100 Village + YES Network weekly meeting, Bobby, Thousand and Michael demonstrated a very elegant process of extracting useful information from our interviews with Jeffrey Ip and Allison Lee.

This is important because as we rack up on user research, we will start to have lots of data piling up. If there isn’t an effective system to extract the right information out and abstract them for digestion on a broad term, then all the work that goes into user research will just go to waste, as we will not gain any understanding from the interviewees.

BTW, I must thank my friend Yolanda for gracefully letting us use the new 80/80 Space. It’s a new co-working space near Kwun Tong that concentrates on the creatives - designers, photographers, film makers… etc. if you’re looking for a nice co-working space in Kowloon East, check it out!

In typical YES Network teaching fashion, there were so much knowledge, we aimed for finishing in 2 hours but ended up almost 3.5 hours! Yet we all feel super upbeat about our newfound insights and looking forward to do more of these “extractions” soon! Super awesome, team!
