Startup: “We’re working on a ‘Minority Report’-like AI-powered camera for crime prevention.” Me: “Fuuuuck.” Startup: …

I’ve been a big fan on the “Barking Up the Wrong Tree” newsletter, this book is no exception! I’ve learned so much that it feels funny when I experienced the negatives at work, while knowing exactly what went wrong. Like watching a train wreck in slow mo. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/31706504

Where are the hordes of 🦄 which had no clue what they were gonna make in the beginning? But just a general goal, let’s say “to improve 🧜‍♀️🧟‍♂️ relationship”, and just by user testing, fail fast, 🚢 early🚢 fast, listen to investors, chase after easy cash flow and became successful?

I’ve been thinking, it’s been about 10 years since the beginning of “Lean Startup”, its idea so entrenched in Startup culture, but has it really worked? Has MVP really worked? Are there examples of companies which are doing well that didn’t start with a “great” product?
