Gawd damn! Didn’t expect this “simple” web scrapping script to blow up to such proportion! Now I kinda need to refactor it while improving its resilience… Or I could call it a day and move on to more interesting things to build 😅

Do Asian kids in progressive cities in America still get racism thrown at them? Like is this still the norm? Coz seems it is where we live in Germany.

I have no idea what can be done in schools to teach kids to not be assholes 😂 (I’m a dad to 12 year olds, I know! They like being assholes!) But hopefully they can do a better job coz god damnit it’s not the 90’s anymore.

It has been years since I left high school in the suburbs of Seattle. I had forgotten how much its sucked to eat racism! 😩 This made me rethink what I should tell my children about their experience at school or otherwise.

What I was more surprised at was the faces of some of the adults behind the boys, they were not happy! Oh, so the boys loudly saying chin chonging is ok, and I called them out is not??! Well FUCK YOU TOO!

In reply to @nicwn

We continued walking, a while later I was alone looking at something when the boys saw me and started chin chonging at me again! I kinda lost it. I said loudly “BOYS! MOVE!” and hurry them along to get in front of me and out of the castle tower.

In reply to @nicwn

May be it was because I yelled at the boys? Some of the girls (who were probably from the same group) uttered chin chong under their breaths too!

In reply to @nicwn

Seriously? I haven’t heard that shit since I was in high school in the 90’s! I turned around and looked, one boy looked away and kept saying “chin chan chung”. So I stopped him…

In reply to @nicwn

Looked him in his eyes and said “Don’t! That’s not cool anymore.” I caught up with my wife and son and told them what had happened. My son was pretty upset again but I said “It’s fine, they’re just boys trying to act cool.”

In reply to @nicwn

I always tell them those are bullies and kids are cruel and dumb like that so just ignore them. But then later in the afternoon, we went to Salzburg Castle. AGAIN! This time it was teenage boys “chin chan chung’ing” behind me.

Just had a rather unpleasant day here in Salzburg. Got called “chin chan chung” TWICE! by two different groups of tweens/teens. First, in the morning…

In reply to @nicwn

Went to Mozarts Geburtshaus and a school group of tweens was there and some of the boys chin chan chung’d at my kids. My 12 yr old son was especially angry because of that. For my kids, they experience racism a lot more bcoz they go to school.

Holy fuck getting speeding tickets while renting is expensive in Germany! I don’t remember rental car companies charging administrative fees for processing speeding tickets in the US.

In Japan, most people wear masks when they’re sick. They learned to do the same in Hong Kong after COVID SARS-1 in 2003. Here in Germany and France, no one is masking on packed trains. Some fat dude just wet sneezed a couple of times into his hands. I wish he had a mask.
